A FEATURE FILM BY ANDREA M CLARKE
JOHN CLARKE tells the story of Baptist minister Dr. John Clarke and his unwavering fight against religious oppression, the loss of his personal liberties, and the ever-present threat of being accused of treason as he sought the RI Royal Charter of 1663 from King Charles II.
"Throughout the deadly Regicide Hunts, when men around him were imprisoned or executed, Clarke was divinely protected in the very halls of the king, preserved for the mission God had given him. Against impossible odds, he secured the Charter that granted Rhode Island an autonomous government and unprecedented freedom of religion and civil rights, forever altering the course of American history."
As we move toward full funding and production, every donor who supports us in this phase will be honored with a Special Thanks credit in the completed film. Thank you for helping bring John's story to life!
This phase includes:
1️⃣ Historical Research: Fine-tuning the theological, political, and historical accuracy of John Clarke’s world—from Rhode Island’s founding to the Regicide era in London.
2️⃣ Script Research Travel — Rhode Island, Boston, and London: Documenting key locations, gathering visual and historical references, and working with on-site advisors to ensure authenticity.
3️⃣ Feature Film Script Completion: Finalizing structure, dialogue, dramatic arcs, historical integration, and emotional pacing to deliver the full feature-length screenplay.
My mission — and the mission of my cast and production crew — is to revive John Clarke’s message through film, story, and truth powerful enough to stir a nation and the world.
- He endured banishment, fines, threats, and repeated trials as Massachusetts tried to crush Rhode Island’s freedoms.
- He stood helpless as Obadiah Holmes was publicly whipped 30 times with a three-cord rope for acting on conscience.
- He survived the Regicide Hunts in London, where allies were hunted and executed — yet John Clarke was divinely protected within the lion’s den of King Charles II.
- Churches are being closed or destroyed
- Synagogue now need armed guards to protect worship services
- Believers are being imprisoned
- People of faith are censored and slaughtered
- Conscience itself is under attack
