At 5 a.m. on September 28, 2025, Dustin Smolne stepped outside after hearing noises near his son’s truck. When he went to investigate, he discovered thieves inside the vehicle. In an attempt to stop them, Dustin grabbed onto the truck and was dragged at high speed before being thrown to the ground. He was then run over by the truck and again by the thieves’ getaway car.
Dustin now faces a long and difficult road to recovery. He is expected to undergo multiple surgeries and may require at least a year of rehabilitation as doctors work to save his leg.
