On 14 December 2025, a tragic and violent mass shooting occurred during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. In the face of terror, one man showed extraordinary courage.
Ahmed al Ahmed, a 43-year-old father of two and local fruit shop owner, rushed toward danger when gunmen opened fire at the crowd. Despite having no firearms training, Ahmed tackled and disarmed one of the attackers, potentially preventing further loss of life. His brave action has been widely celebrated by local officials, international commentators, and community members around the world.
In doing so, Ahmed was shot twice and is now hospitalized and recovering from serious injuries. He underwent surgery and remains under medical care as he begins what will be a long and challenging rehabilitation.
Ahmed’s family faces mounting medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and lost income while he recovers. As a devoted father and small business owner, he now needs the support of the global community that has been inspired by his selfless act.
What Your Donation Will Support
All funds raised will go directly toward:
- Hospital and surgical costs not covered by insurance
- Ongoing rehabilitation and therapy
- Lost income for Ahmed and support for his wife and children
- Household expenses during his recovery
Why This Matters
Ahmed acted not because he had to, but because he chose to protect others in a moment when most people were running for safety. His bravery saved lives, and now we have the opportunity to support him and his family in return.
