A Safe Home for Maya

When Typhoon Renzo struck Cebu, 8-year-old Maya and her mother lost everything in a single night. Their home was destroyed, and they were forced into an overcrowded evacuation shelter.

Through Upfoundly, a community-led fundraiser was launched to help families like theirs rebuild.

Within 72 hours, donors from 14 countries contributed enough to provide Maya’s family with:

• Temporary housing
• Essential supplies
• School materials so Maya could return to class

Two months later, Maya and her mother moved into their rebuilt home.

“We didn’t think anyone in the world knew our names,” her mother said.
