Kolonga Village had relied on a contaminated river for years, causing illness among children and the elderly. A community-organized Upfoundly campaign raised funds for a solar-powered water purification system.
With support from more than 900 donors worldwide, construction was completed in 2025.
The results were immediate:
-
Waterborne disease cases dropped by 62%
-
Women and children no longer walk 5 km to collect water
-
The project created two new local maintenance jobs
Village elder Farida summed it up beautifully:
“Clean water has given us health, time, and hope.”
